My name is Aspen Groom (they/them). I am a registered social worker offering accessible, virtual counselling across Ontario, with some in-person sessions available. Counselling can feel weird - opening up to a stranger is a vulnerable and strange experience. My work is about meeting you where you are and collaborating on what you are looking to get out of counselling. I believe no one is "broken" or needing of "fixing." Instead, we all come with behaviours that are serving or no-longer services us, and we can work together to chart a different path forward.
As a queer, trans, neurodivergent, and invisibly disabled person, my own lived experiences deeply inform my practice. I understand the struggle of navigating systems and identities that don't always fit, and the strength it takes to choose to live differently. I bring this understanding into the space we create together. If you're looking for an affirming and kind counsellor, let's talk. I offer sliding scale services for those who identify a need. Please reach out to discuss.
What to expect from a first session
Beginning therapy often brings a mix of hope and uncertainty. In our first session, we’ll take time to explore what led you here, discuss what you hope to gain, and simply get to know one another. Meaningful therapy rests on a strong therapeutic relationship, and I want you to feel that we are partners in this process, working together toward your goals. There’s no need to have everything figured out, and we won’t be bound by rigid timelines. This is your space to reflect, learn and grow.
